My education and very close experiences with mental health and addiction(s) in people close to me, have helped me understand better what you might be going through.
After finishing Medical School, I trained to be a Psychiatrist in New York and then completed an advanced fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine. I hold board certifications in both, General Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry and have been practicing for 15 years.
Building a trusting relationship with your provider can help move you forward and increase your quality of life. It is easier said than done, but the more you try the more successful you will be. I am happy to partner with you.
With an undergraduate degree in Psychology, I began working with adults with mental health conditions in long term care settings for a number of years. I went on to obtain a Masters, and finally a Doctoral Degree from the University
of Minnesota.
I have worked with many individuals, including people close to me, who have been impacted by addiction. I have a keen understanding of the ways mental health and addiction intersect to impact one’s well being. By integrating
high quality and evidenced based care, along with your lived experience, we able to partner to create a treatment plan that works for you. When you are ready to reach toward your goals, I am here to help.
Meagan Thompson, DNP, APRN
I am a dually certified Nurse-Midwife and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. After my midwifery program, I moved to the University of Iowa as a full-scope Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) and co-founded the Maternal Substance Use Disorder (MSUD) clinic where I worked to address addiction disorders for pregnant and postpartum women.
I have a passion for caring for women who are trying to become pregnant, are pregnant, or are parenting. I am a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional though Postpartum Support International. Additionally, I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)- helping women by managing psychiatric or addiction disorders if their goal is to continue breastfeeding or lactation.
